Nice try, but no, I’m not referring to my lawyer’s robes.
I’m talking about the little black dress, which should systematically be a basic in any half decent wardrobe.
It allows you to put and end to one of the most distressing morning dilemma’s: what on earth am I going to wear?
Timeless and chic, provided that both the cut and the fabric be of quality, it will adapt equally to morning and evening (yes, it’s your saving grace).
However, if you skip the accessories, people will be asking if you’re just back from a funeral.
Although the emblematic black dress if self-sufficient because it just works no matter what, it is mandatory to enhance it with an accessory. Be it a statement necklace, a sautoir, a cuff, chunky earrings, a hat or a bag with a pop of color (but not everything at once, please), the chosen accessory must create contrast.
See, I really wasn’t talking about my robes.
