When it comes to Marcelle Dormoy, the woman doesn’t elect her perfume: the perfume elects the woman.
Indeed, Marcelle Dormoy offers perfumes in correlation with the personality of each woman, and I find this idea quite wonderful, since I feel incomplete without my perfume.
The story of Marcelle Dormoy is that of a sleeping beauty.
Marcelle Dormoy, the woman born at the dawn of the 20th century, was first a model, and then worked with Paul Poiret, Marcelle Chaumont and Madeleine Vionnet, where she was head of the Vionnet’s workroom.
On the basis of such experience, she launched her haute-couture house in 1927 in Paris and quickly met with success. She joined the influential Paris Haute-Couture Association, alongside Balenciaga, Lanvin and Chanel.
Instinctively understanding that a perfume perfectly complements an outfit and a personality, she created daring fragrances, with evocative names: “Coloris”, “Frasques” or even “Gomorrhe”.
Marcelle Dormoy finally closed her haute-couture house in 1950.
Louise du Bessey took up the torch, deciding in 2018 to wake up this beautiful brand lost in oblivion. But it is no longer about haute-couture, it’s all about perfumes.
Three fragrances – Nacarat, Heliodor and Gemma Veneris – have been developed in Grasse, France, by Louise and Karine Chevalier, the “Marcelle nose” and perfumer, in order to perfectly reflect three types of feminine personalities. A personality test on the Marcelle Dormoy’s website allows every woman to find her fragrance.
If you are not sure of your choice, a discovery pouch will allow you to discover the three fragrances proposed by Marcelle Dormoy.
